The following resources provided by Work Safe Austin can be used to educate people about the most up to date information related to worker safety, especially as it relates to the construction industry. Many of these resources publish information about general worker safety and the protections and rights that all workers have.

Additionally, many of these resources have published special coronavirus related information, guidelines, procedures and options for workers required to work during or otherwise affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

The mission of OSHA is to ensure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by creating and enforcing standards, providing training, education and other services.

OSHA has also developed resources regarding COVID-19. They frequently update this page as new information becomes available.

The City of Austin

The city of Austin remains vigilant in providing additional resources for workers and residents. The city has created a database providing coronavirus facts and related resources.

Build a Better Texas

Build a Better Texas was created by construction workers and their families, faith leaders, construction companies and safety advocates. The purpose of Build a Better Texas is to advocate for a strong and sustainable construction industry. 

The Workers Defense Project

The Workers Defense Project is an organization that strives to empower low-income workers seeking fair employment through education, direct services, organizing and partnerships. The Workers Defense Project offers programs and research designed to help low-income workers and others fight for better pay, benefits and working conditions. 

The Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR)

The CPWR works to reduce workplace fatalities, injuries and illnesses. By conducting research and developing training programs, the CPWR provides workers with resources to be better prepared to safely work.

The CPWR has developed guidelines and standards for workers to follow during the COVID-19 pandemic designed to keep workers and those around them safe.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is a federal agency under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The mission of NIOSH is to conduct occupational and health research. These findings are often used to craft public policy and safety guidelines. 

Resources for Hispanic workers

Studies have shown Hispanic workers are often subjected to less safe working conditions. The Center for Construction Resources and Training (CPWR) publishes resources Hispanic workers can use to understand their rights and make them more aware of potential dangers they may face on jobsites.
